What is the Scottish Baton Twirling Association?

The Scottish Baton Twirling Association (S.B.T.A) exists to provide Coaches with support in developing programmes of work for Baton Twirling and opportunities to extend the involvement of their athletes in the many events organised by the Association.

The activities of the Association are geared towards assisting coaches to set up and run a club. The format of our Association allows coaches with little knowledge to become involved and gain experience through activities and training given through the Association.

Aims of the Association

  1. To encourage the widest participation and develop highest proficiency in the sport of Baton Twirling.
  2. The Association is committed to encourage the highest ethical standards. All individuals involved in the Association should conduct themselves with integrity, transparency, accountability and in a fair and equitable manner.
  3. The Association has, as one on its main goals, the development and promotion of good sportsmanship and conduct during competition.
  4. To ensure that members are conversant with current accepted techniques and principles as used by the Association.
  5. To assist any member requiring advice on Baton Twirling work.
  6. To co-ordinate and assist athletes/participants, instructors, judges and team officials in the pursuit of twirling excellence.
  7. To engage in any and all matters whatsoever, which may be required or incidental to the carrying out of the objectives as set fourth herein.

How The Aims Are Met

  • Training sessions are held regularly for athletes interested in developing their skills.
  • Clinics are presented by International and National Coaches.
  • Training programmes include Grading and Medal Certification.
  • Competitions are run in both Team and Individual events.
  • Competitions from beginner to advanced level in Championship and International events are held annually.
